Our Services

Dog Daycare Service

You know what they say. Location, location, location. Well ours is our biggest selling point. A massive grassy paddock, fenced and full of games, hay bales, sand pits, earthed play tunnels and even a swimming pool. The dogs love it. Beyond that, there’s open woodland where we do two long walks a day, rain or shine, and there’s the rest of our 11-acre farm to explore. Unless they have a problem with recall, dogs need never be on the lead. Those who do have poor recall can still run about off the lead in our secure paddock. When they’ve had their walk we have a hot shower to wash them down as well as dedicated feeding pens.

We want the dogs to feel at home and it helps that they spend their quiet time resting on our warm, waterproof beds and sofas, not sleeping in the van for hours. There’s plenty of room in our barn conversion to play or sleep. We have three sectioned chillout zones so we can group compatible pets at rest time.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING DOG DAYCARE

So you’ve decided to send your dog to daycare and you’ve had a look to see what’s out there. What’s next?

  • Go and see it. Don't just talk to someone in an office, make sure you look around the whole place.
  • Arrange an appropriate time, as dogs may be out on their walk, or having their rest time.
  • See where the dogs rest, feed and exercise, is it warm and sheltered from bad weather, is it safe and secure?
  • Meet the people who actually look after the dogs, do they look as though they love dogs?
  • Do the dogs look relaxed and happy?

PUPPY SOCIALISATION

Puppies require more individualised care - they need limited walks, extra feeding, rest and a much more controlled environment. But we’re lucky - we’re small and have the space so we can do it. And we do it well.  We take puppies from 12 weeks old, once they’re fully vaccinated.

Your puppy will be able to interact with other puppies (a really important part of its development) and learn from the older, well-behaved dogs.

We welcome puppies to Boggs Dogs but we also know how much attention they need. It’s important for puppies to attend at least twice a week, preferably on the same days, so they are meeting the same dogs and staff each week. This structure and stability will mean a routine can be set, positive behaviour encouraged and we can help them to develop good recall. This will allow them to thrive during their time with us.

BOGGS DOGS TAXI

We are proud to be the greenest dog daycare in East Lothian, with an all-electric dog taxi producing low carbon emissions, onsite dog poo composting which reduces our carbon footprint as we’ve no need for a waste disposal company and solar panels which generate all the center’s electricity.

We’ll collect your dog from your home between 8am and 10am and drop them off at the end of the day between 3.45pm and 5pm. This means our dogs have limited time in our vans. If you’re happy to give us a key, you don’t even need to be in when we come. The vans are air-conditioned in the summer and lined with warm beds which are frequently washed, in the winter.

Grooming

It can be tricky finding the time in your busy schedule to get your pet groomed so it makes sense for us to do it for you. You’ll also find dogs are a lot more relaxed being groomed at Boggs Dogs where they feel at home, rather than being taken somewhere unfamiliar. So if you’re interested in any grooming, from nail-clipping to something a bit more extensive, talk to us. We also offer these services to dogs who don't come to daycare. Just call us and tell us what you want.

TRAINING

We work with dog behaviourist Maxwell Muir, from Action4dogs, who is an expert on all elements of dog training. He comes every few months to give us training on all aspects of dog behaviour and keeps us up to date on best practice. He has also done training with specific dogs if we’ve felt, together with the owners, that a particular dog would benefit from one-to-one training.

Watch out for our regular seminars held by Max. Our next seminar and workshop is held in 20th March  2020 - This 1-2-1 workshop concentrates on recall and lasts 1hr 15mins. Please call us to find out more.

PHOTO AND VIDEO UPDATES

We know you like to see what your dog has been up to, so when they’re in daycare with us we’ll always try to send you regular updates, whether it’s photos or a short video filmed on their walk. We’ll also give you feedback about their progress or any specific issues that have cropped up. So you’ll always know what’s going on.

Testimonials

Boggsdogs was our first experience leaving our dog Breagha so it was a big deal for us  Mel and her excellent team were so friendly and welcoming it made it so much easier knowing our dog would be surrounded by such warmth. The dogs have a lovely environment to eat, sleep and play in - it looked so much fun! Our dog came home tired and happy and settled back in without any problems at all. Mel's updates were really considerate and much appreciated. I cannot thank the team enough and will definitely be using Boggsdogs again soon.

Boggs Dogs has been amazing for our Springer, Lola. When she was a puppy she was nervous around other dogs but the team at Boggs are great. They were supportive and consistent with her and in less than a month of being there her behaviour around other dogs transformed. She loves Boggs and all the exercise she gets there. I love all the space and the family feel. A real find.

Couldn't recommend this place enough, great workers very friendly and my dog always comes back knackered. They even brush him so he looks so good when he gets dropped off

- Danni Anderson

We were delighted to find Mel and Boggs Dogs. The space available for walks and play is huge so Orla, our young Vizsla was very well exercised. It is the perfect place for an energetic dog. We’ve enjoyed the photo and video updates. I can't recommend Mel highly enough.

Both my Newfie’s love it at Boggs Dogs, they’re so well cared for and come home worn out after a lovely day of walking and playing. The communication is great and any questions I have are quickly answered. It’s an amazing place and I’d recommend to anyone.

Our wirehaired Hungarian vizsla goes on his holidays to Boggs Dogs and I know that he has an awesome time and is in amazingly good hands. I can't decide if he's just exhausted when we pick him up from all the playing or if he's actually a bit sad to be back at home, he loves it that much! Couldn't recommend Mel and her team more highly.

Our dog Spot has been coming here since Boggs Dogs was born and he absolutely loves it! Mel and the team are great - and their facilities are getting swankier year on year.

Amos our whippet is quite sensitive but has settled in so well with Boggs. He really enjoys his days there and the ladies are all fantastic. We know he's in good hands when we can't be with him. We loved that there was a mix of walks, playing outside and some room indoors when needed. Amos loves his cuddles and gets plenty! Only thing I would love even more would be some more pictures and videos

- Magali Anne

Winnie attends Boggs Dogs 5 days a week while we work and she absolutely loves it! The safe space they have to run and play is fantastic. Mel & all the staff are lovely and clearly genuinely love dogs. I have often said to friends that if I was to return in another life - I would want to be a Boggs Dog! Thank you for caring for Winnie so well.

Very warm and welcoming environment for all breeds of pooch. I visited today with all the snow and it was just beautiful. Acres of space with woodlands make this a doggy paradise.
